Letter from a Mexican prison

"One day, I noticed in a trash can a little book entitled "A letter for all". I took it out of curiosity. What a surprise when my eyes stopped on these words : "Judgments and condemnations". began to read : "God knows all the evil you have done ; and he takes account not only of deeds, but also of evil thoughts. Because of all your sins, you have been sentenced to prison.” As I read, my eyes filled with tears and I felt an inexplicable fear, because everything that this booklet said was true.

Since then, within the walls of this prison, I have analyzed my life, and I have come to this conclusion : I have never done anyone any good. This is why, dear friend, I am writing this letter to you, with tears in my eyes, to ask you this question : Will God forgive the greatest sinner ? Because I consider myself to be this sinner... Can I obtain God's forgiveness ? I was tried for fraud, and for this offense I lost my acquaintances, my friends, everything... I was on the verge of committing suicide...

Since I received your letter, I read it day and night, so that each of your words remains engraved in me. I asked forgiveness from God for all my sins. God is good and I am very bad ; I feel unworthy to pronounce his Name...

My wife also read your letter, and we both asked God for forgiveness for our sins. Now we are studying the Bible to understand the true way."
