Like little children

Wednesday April 7, 2021

If you do not convert and become like the little children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, he who humbles himself like this little child will be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 18. 3, 4

Like little children

In the Gospels, Jesus repeats several times that to enter the kingdom of God, one must "become like a little child". It got me thinking a lot because I tend to only believe what my intelligence can understand. But since I really wanted to "enter the kingdom", I accepted to become like a child, instead of wanting to analyze everything.

Since then I have noticed that people who have a deep relationship with Jesus Christ are those who are simple in their behavior and their thinking. They thus get closer to children. What is the major difference between an adult and a child ? The child trusts, he relies on greater than himself, and above all, he trusts those whose affection he has felt. The adult thinks he can judge everything for himself. He wants to be his own master.

For my part, I was only able to have a direct relationship with Jesus Christ to the extent that I accepted to become small. We come closer to God, not when intelligence weakens, but on the contrary, when it emerges from the superficial and seeks what is vital, what the simplicity of the child sometimes makes him touch. When suffering does not put us in a state of revolt - God forbid - it can help us drop the shell of our pride in order to find the one who is so close to us : Jesus Christ, and to entrust ourselves in him because that he loves us.
