Like the Magi...
The Magi entered the house, saw the little child with Mary, his mother, prostrated themselves and adored him. Matthew 2.11
Christian tradition has given three names to the Magi who came from the East to adore Jesus. But the gospel remains silent on their identity and number. The purpose of the evangelist is not that we remember them, but the one who is the object of their journey.
Their sudden arrival in Jerusalem was a matter of astonishment to all. While for centuries the Jewish prophets had announced the coming of the Messiah-King, it was through the mouths of strangers that the Israelites learned that he was born. The Jews will dispute that Jesus is the Christ, but the Magi have no doubt. They prostrate themselves before the child and adore him. They offer him, as a tribute, sumptuous gifts. The Magi did not have the Bible. But the star that guided them was enough light to set them on their way to meet Jesus.
More than 2000 years after these facts, multiple proofs attest to the identity of Jesus. His life, his death, his resurrection, the lives he changed say he is the Christ, the Savior of the world. But the disbelief of many remains the same.
On this day that recalls the coming of the Magi, do as they did. Come closer to Jesus ! Get to know him ! This discovery will mark your life forever !
