Jerusalem, you are built like a city whose parts are bound together. Psalm 122:3

The expression "bound together" reveals to us how the unity of the people of God must be. In Hebrew, almost every word is formed from a three-consonant root. If you want to understand the meaning of a word, you have to go back to its root.

The word translated in the psalm by "bound together" comes from a root which means "companion, comrade, someone intimate". It is one of the most affectionate terms that can be found in the Hebrew vocabulary to describe the commitment that unites two people.

The unity of the people of God is not based on meeting in a church building, participating in some form of worship or even adhering to some form of doctrine. The authentic basis that binds the people of God into one body is for each of its members to make a personal commitment to one another.

All the members are comrades, companions; they are committed to God and to each other. The mortar that binds God's people together in real unity is not doctrine, nor time, nor place of meeting, but a personal, heart-to-heart commitment that makes each of us brothers and sisters. sisters, members of the same household, of the same family.

Listen the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Let the Lord show you how He sees the unity of God's people.

Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is a sample prayer : "Lord, I want to be a unifier in your church."

Praise God

To praise God is to express our gratitude to him. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a time to thank the Lord.

Act today

Related to meditation, what can you do today to encourage a Christian brother or sister whom God cares for you ?

Honor the Lord

Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.

"My God, thank you for being a model of perfect unity in the person of the trinity. To you be the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
