Listen or hang up ?

After having previously... spoken to our fathers through the prophets, God, in these last times, has spoken to us through the Son, whom he appointed heir of all things. Hebrews 1:1-2

Therefore we must all the more hold fast to the things we have heard, lest we be carried away from them. Hebrews 2.1

Listen or hang up ?

It is reported that a long time ago, a resident of Boston (USA), with whom the President of the United States was trying to communicate by telephone, hung up several times without answering. He couldn't believe that the president himself wanted to speak to him ! Finally, the operator managed to convince him and the conversation could begin.

Someone much more important calls to each of us. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him” says the Lord (Revelation 3:20). It does not impose itself, it invites. God, who created man, wants a personal relationship with him, "to enter into his house."

But man is free to choose to listen or not, to obey or disobey. “God speaks sometimes in one way, sometimes in another... in order to turn man away from evil” (Job 33. 14, 17), that is to say from his bad actions, from his path of independence from God, to teach him happiness. Are we careful ? Have we listened to his insistent and loving voice ?

In the past, God spoke to his people through his prophets. Then he spoke to humanity through Jesus, his Son (1st verse cited). Today he speaks to you through the Bible, which is truly his Word. He also speaks to you through this leaflet ! Those who will not listen to his voice of grace will hear it in judgment, because “the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God” (John 5. 25). Please don't hang up when God calls out to you with so much love !
