Live in gratitude and joy
Search the Scriptures
... and you will express your gratitude to the Father who has enabled us to partake of the inheritance of the saints in light. Colossians 1.12
Many Christians do not understand the power of gratitude. Our joy comes from our gratitude. When we are grateful and praise God, we can gain proper perspective on our current circumstances.
Paul tells us that our thankfulness should flow from the fact that God has enabled us to partake of the inheritance of the saints. The term "rendered" implies that we were not originally. When we were born on this earth, we inherited the sinful nature of Adam, the father of the human race.
Since we inherited a sinful nature, our destiny was death. The first part of Romans 6:23 tells us : "For the wages of sin is death." Death is not just physical ; it can also be emotional, relational and financial. Emotional death can be defined as prolonged depression or anxiety. The good news is found in the second part of Romans 6:23 : "But the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." When we were born again, we received new life and a new inheritance.
A legacy involves relationships. Jesus didn't just make a transaction ; he established a relationship. We pass from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light through our relationship with him. The word "light" in Greek is best translated as "fire". Part of our inheritance in Christ is a relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Many times in the book of Acts we read that when people received the Holy Spirit, they also received joy. It is part of our heritage as children of God. Remember to thank God and laugh. Let your gratitude turn into joy !
Listen the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God wants to say. Let the Holy Spirit fill you with joy now.
Praying is simple. Speak to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Father, today I choose to be grateful and to be joyful despite the circumstances. Simply because I am your child and you have saved me. Amen."
Praise God
To praise God is to express your gratitude to him. "Lord, I am truly grateful for the life you give me. My heart is joyful in all seasons !"
Act today
Do you have a subject that particularly troubles you ? Decide now to give it to God and thank him in advance because he will act, give you his peace and fill you with his joy which does not depend on circumstances.
Honor the Lord
Our journey for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Lord, I thank you for your Holy Spirit, who is my comforter. Yours is the reign, the power and the glory, amen !"
