Living water quenches thirst
If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. John 7.37
The start of that summer in Gironde presented a sad sight : it had not rained for four months, the earth was like dust and the meadow grass was scorched by the sun. However, in the forests located a few kilometers from Blaye, a few streams flowed, between their still green banks, a clear and living water where I saw insects and a few fish. Life was there by the presence of water.
Sometimes certain moments in our existence are like crossing an arid desert, and we feel like this grass dried up by the heatwave. Sometimes we believe God far from us, crushed as we are by the problems that beset us.
Let us remember then that the Lord Jesus is the source of life which quenches the thirstiest. He gives us the remedy : to turn to him with confidence. It will calm our thirst. He will send the believer the Holy Spirit who will flood his life and make him a child of God.
