Lord, give me some time to find !

Exodus 5.9 (NFC) - As soon as they get overworked, they will be too busy to think about these false stories.

This phrase was spoken by the Pharaoh of Egypt. The goal was clear, to burden the Israelites to give up the idea of ​​serving God. We know that behind the Pharaoh it was the devil himself who manifested himself. As Ecclesiastes says : "There is nothing new under the sun," what he wanted to do then is still relevant today, even more so today.

Globalization, diminishing purchasing power, excessive staff cuts to further enrich shareholders... All these things have created, over the past few decades, stifling stress for those who are in business. Long gone are the days when a husband's toil was enough to take care of the household. Add to this a technological explosion, media harassment... which steal the slightest moment of reflection and feed on "things" of God ! We have to admit that the devil has succeeded in diverting so many of God’s children from their raison d'être : disciples of Christ.

The title of this meditation is a prayer because I do not want to believe in the lie of fatalism. This can change for any of us if we are prepared to make a number of choices. It is obvious that we have to work and not be idle, but when activity becomes the master, a false god dominates our life! If we have put our lives in the hands of our Lord, it is He, and He alone, our boss, our banker, our provider, our comprehensive insurance... and He never fails.

When I was first converted, I was obsessed with the desire to devote myself fully to the ministry. The Lord did not allow it, but in his grace He intervened in a very special way. I cannot go into detail in this meditation, but for a whole period of my life I worked only a few days a month with no loss of income. It allowed me to devote myself to the service of God but without any pressure, and to have time of relaxation and intimacy with my God.

So what could be these choices I was talking about above ? First : re-examine my lifestyle and my way of managing the budget. Many are caught up in activism because they have given in to the temptation to lust for temporal goods. Living modestly assures us that God will provide for our needs. Second : stop wasting my time on social networks, on the Internet, in front of video games or in front of the television. Many things are completely unnecessary, even harmful, except that they deprive us of this freedom to receive from our Heavenly Father in the privacy of the bedroom. Finally, and perhaps this is the trigger for the above : let myself be persuaded that this short earthly time will define my eternal reach and that the true values ​​are those of the sky.

Beloved, it may be necessary to be drastic in your choices : leave a high paying job for one that will give you more time ! Say no to certain church activities and heal from reunion. Choosing your hobbies based on what is healthy for your soul... Difficult, perhaps, but it is at this price that you will be freed from the spirit of Pharaoh and you will taste the atmosphere of eternity.
