Lord : Why ?

Joshua 7.7 - Joshua said : “Ah ! Lord Eternal, why ?".

I do not know of any sincere Children of God who have not asked this question : "Why Lord ?". Joshua had received promises for the land of Canaan, and lo and behold the people of Israel were defeated before the small town of Ai. Why this failure, why this shame, why these victims... Lord why ? In this episode, we know that God's answer is going to be clear and that He is going to give the solution to solve the problem, but that is not always the case !

My beloveds, there are several things we should take into account that may perhaps be part of the answer to our why. We have to face the facts that our God does not think like us ! “As the heavens are high above the earth, so are my ways above your ways, and my thoughts above your thoughts,” Isaiah tells us (Isaiah 55.9). We don't have all the ins and outs of our situations. What may seem like failure to us is in fact the success of the divine plan. The only calming step is to trust Him completely and completely because He knows !

Another thing to take into account is that we live on a "planet" where Evil abounds. We will be faced with suffering. The choices of other people will influence our lives. Whether it is our spouse, our parents, our boss or the government, we will be dependent on their negative choices. But we have a beautiful promise : "When a poor man cries, the Lord hears, and saves him from all his troubles" (Psalms 34.6) ! If we are in distress, God will save us !

Finally, like Joshua, maybe there is one thing that needs to be worked out in our life. Our character, our behavior, our bad choices have led us into a difficult and painful life. My beloveds, let us cry out our whys to God and listen to his answer. If Joshua had persisted in attacking Ai without seeking the face of the Lord, he would have lived failure after failure, frustration after frustration, loss after loss... Let us listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and above all seek the peace that He communicates. Repentance is an extraordinary power capable of changing our circumstances and our situations.
