Lose the north

Turn to me and be saved, all of you who are at the ends of the earth ! Indeed, it is I who am God and there is no other. Isaiah 45.22

Have you ever gone around in circles without knowing which direction to take ? To go around a roundabout twice before finding the right exit ? Or, to be lost on the sea in a fog to cut with a knife ? In the latter case, it is better to have a compass and use it. Your compass will point you North. If you want to go south, east or west, your compass will show you north. Then, having found the North, you can calculate the course to take to get to the desired port. (Psalm 107.23-30)

God invites us to turn to him to find the course to follow and avoid going around in circles. For forty years, God led the people of Israel through a desert where there were no roads or maps. God alone guided them day by day. They learned to look to God for direction.

Our uncertainties about our directions to follow can seem to us completely foreign to God, to religion or to spirituality. We deceive ourselves when we think that. God is interested in the whole of our life. It is the North that makes it possible to make our multiple decisions in harmony with the plan that he has prepared in advance for us. (Ephesians 2.10)
