Love, love again

"Love your enemies ; do good to those who hate you ; bless those who curse you, pray for those who insult you." Luke 6. 27, 28

Pastor Gaston Claudel is today an elderly gentleman who lives in the Nice region. For about half a century, he served drug addicts on the French Riviera, introducing them to the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ and trying to get them out of their harmful addiction. He wrote several books, participated in numerous radio and television programs, gave numerous lectures on the subject of the Bible and drug addiction. Let's listen to him : "When you come home one evening, after a long day of visiting drug addicts in the hospital, in their family or on the beaches, you are tired, thirsty for rest, and those you have a few days before at your house, sold your furniture and left with all they could carry, it is there that one must love, love, forgive and persevere in this ministry which is yours. To love, but also to understand with the intelligence of faith."

Beautiful practice of the verse of the day !

It is nice to love those who love you ; it is easy to love those who are sympathetic or even indifferent to you ; but those who hurt you ? And yet God says to love them, to do them good, to bless them, to pray for them ... this is only possible with the strength that the Lord gives. Solomon said already : "If anyone who hates you is hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink" (Prov.25: 21). It is good that every child of God puts into practice, even if it is difficult and unnatural, what the Holy Scripture teaches us ; it will have a great reward : "If you forgive men their faults, your heavenly Father will also forgive you ; but if you do not forgive men their faults, your Father will not forgive your sins" (Matthew 6:14, 15). Let us meditate on this verse and be more men and women of forgiveness !

Lord, give me the strength to love all men, those who are kind and especially those who are not. Give me to love and to love again. Amen.
