For the Lord listens to the poor, and does not despise his own when they are prisoners. Psalm 69. 34
Towards the middle of the night, Paul and Silas were praying and singing the praises of God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Acts 16. 25
Mail from a reader
“From my cell, I want to pray to my Lord for you.
I just spent 1 year and 2 months in prison, and sometimes I live as if today is the last day. Not because the detention is bad, but because I expect something better : Jesus, who comes to seek his own for heaven, a supernatural "escape".
I don't see the prison like in the movies, but rather as a "school of repentance", where I can meditate on the past, regret, repent, be reconciled with God through the only mediator between God and me, Jesus Christ, "who gave Himself for all". To believe Him and receive eternal life, to follow Him and keep His Word, is the purpose of my life here.
With other prisoners, I broached the subject of the forgiveness of Christ which was offered to each of us...
When I wake up in the morning, I sometimes sing praises to God without wanting to. Sometimes I ask myself : Who am I that God takes care of me ? Sometimes I feel too sinful to look up to Him ; sometimes I lose heart...
In this school of repentance, God speaks to me. He stopped me in my crazy life, which took me a lot away from His presence. Today, His love attracts me : "He gives me strength, he leads me in the paths of righteousness because of his name" (Psalm 23. 3).
Finally, a request : chaplains need Bibles in different languages. Give us what you can. Shalom."
