Make Jesus your host

"We learned that he was at home." Mark 2.1

In all likelihood, the house where Jesus was was Simon's house at Capernaum (Mark 1:29), the one where people gathered at the door (Mark 1:33).

While Jesus is in this house again, word of mouth is working, and people come in crowds to hear his message.

This house has already been a gathering place, a place where the powerful grace of God has manifested itself :

Peter's mother-in-law was healed there, just as many sick or demoniacs were delivered (Mark 1.31, Mark 1.34). Jesus being present, this house will once again become a place of healing and grace.

Where is Jesus, there is the church.

The presence of Jesus makes this modest house a place apart.

Where is Jesus, there is the church. A cellar, an attic, a back room of coffee, a house, an undergrowth ... can become places where the grace of God is manifested if Jesus is present there. A basilica, a cathedral, a temple, an oratory ... can be useful to gather many believers, but only the presence of Christ will make these places, places of restoration, healing, salvation. House meetings or meetings in places dedicated to worship, no matter, provided Jesus is present. Some polemics to know whether or not temples, church buildings or not, but the question is not there, what is needed is that Jesus be there !

Some very dear friends thought they had to leave the local church to gather in a house group. A few months later their house group shattered. Was Jesus in this house group ? Other friends started a house group in a small community ; little by little, this group has become increasingly important, broken lives have been restored, homes have found harmony. Certainly, Jesus was in this house.

What about your house ? Is your house a place where Jesus can be comfortable ? A place where he occupies the whole place ? A place where miracles happen ? A place of life ? When Jesus is there, it is known, it shows, it stimulates faith, it produces good fruits.

A prayer for today

Lord, may my house be your home, may it be a place of peace for the desperate, welcome for the unfortunate, healing for the wounded. That my friends, my family, my neighbors know that you live at home. Amen !
