"I will not leave you nor forsake you" Hebrews 13.5
Somewhere beyond solitude, there is a satisfaction induced by necessity. When all your options in the natural field seem closed, doors can open in the spiritual realm. This is where you begin to glimpse the possibility of having with God a relationship as never before had you had it.
To manage loneliness, forget the idea that any company is preferable to yours.
John was alone on the island of Patmos, a penitentiary of the Alcatraz type, when God seized him and carried him on a journey through the glory of heaven. Result, we have the book of the Apocalypse. Paul was in prison when he wrote his greatest epistles.
In Genesis, God did this miraculous work of creation when he was alone, with no one to applaud him. As praise can come only from himself, he said : "It was very good." Genesis 1:31. You too must learn to do it. Congratulations from others reflect their opinion about you. But if you can say good things about yourself, this reflects your opinion about you, the only person with whom you live every day.
To manage loneliness, forget the idea that any company is preferable to yours. A study of thousands of couples revealed that 50% of people would no longer marry the same person. There are several reasons for this. One is that no one but God can fill the spiritual void within you. Think for a moment and you will realize that sometimes the solution to isolation is not to have the company but to have a purpose.
A thought for today
Loneliness is not a lack of affection but a lack of direction. If you need a purpose and direction for your life, just one address : at God's house !
