"Me, I am the life"

"I am the resurrection and the life." John 11:25

The one who makes this declaration is Jesus, the Word manifested in a man, that Word in which is life and without which no thing has been made (John 1: 2-4).

He had called all things to existence. Through the breath of his mouth he had given man a living soul capable of communicating with God. And now, clothed with our humanity, he humbly traverses the land of Israel, village after village, supported materially by some pious women. In the world which he created and which he supports "by the word of his power" (Heb 1: 3), he has no place to rest his head. And yet he declares : "I am ... life."

That is why he came to earth to bring life to mankind. In fact, since sin entered the world, the spiritual life, that is, the ability to communicate with God, has been replaced by death, that is, the absence of relationships with God.

Yet, by an effect of the pure grace of God, of the believers of the TA. Had the opportunity to receive messages from him and to speak to him. Let us think of all these men of faith : Abel who pleased God by the sacrifice he offered him, Enoch who walked with God, Abraham who was called God's friend, David, Daniel, the prophets ... God, sovereign And good, was able to establish a relationship with them because they were placed in advance for the benefit of the blood of his Son who would be poured later on the cross.

Then Jesus came here to offer his life as a sacrifice, so that many men and women could receive by faith eternal life. The grain of wheat fell to the ground and died to produce fruit in abundance (John 12:24).

Believers now live on the life of Jesus. However, he alone is the source of this life. Our role, our mission on this earth, is to witness that it animates us and to proclaim that it is offered to all. Our Lord Jesus maintains and develops the divine life in us through the action of his Spirit. Then, with Paul who realized it every day, the redeemed of Jesus can say, to his measure : "For me, to live is Christ" (Phil 1:21).
