Me my sun it is the Lord !

"I am the light of the world : he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8.12

That morning the rain fell, again, without a break. I had the impression that it would never stop and that I would now live in a sort of aquarium populated with frogs and decorated with water lilies. The pale sun really did not give the "la".

Jesus is there !

Then, this old hymn entitled "Me my sun, it is the Lord !" came back to my mind.

I searched the lyrics on the Internet, tuned my guitar (it had not been used for some time) and I started. I praised with all my heart in front of the screen, groping a little to find the air and especially by deliberately turning my back to my window ! Then I continued singing and humming all day and even the days that followed. From now on, when it rains, and I often do, I know what to do to get away from the gloomy climate.

It is the same thing in our spiritual life. We live in luminous days when everything flows, then those days when we regret (almost) getting out of bed, because everything seems to us in shades of gray. We know that the Lord is right beside us, for He has promised us (Matthew 28:20) and yet we do not "see" His light in our lives, we do not "feel" the sweet warmth of His presence. On those days, our Christian life seems very bland and very morose ! Yet it is certain : Jesus is there !

A prayer for today

Lord, I praise and bless you for ALL the days of my life, for all those where I feel good with you and my brothers, and for all the others, especially those where I wonder why I got up. I proclaim it with all my heart : "Lord, it is you my only true sun, it is you the light of my life !"
