Mission

And he said unto them : So it was written and it was necessary that it come to pass that the Messiah would suffer and that he would be resurrected on the third day, and that repentance and the forgiveness of sins would be preached in his name to all the nations, to begin with. through Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. Luke 24:46-48

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

The Lord addresses these words to the apostles, but their application, of course, continues to this day. It is to us Christians today that the Lord entrusts this service of witnesses, because we are his and we know him.

In past centuries, many missionaries have gone around the world as witnesses of Jesus Christ. They have performed their service fruitfully. This missionary zeal still animates many Christians. But today, for a Christian, the missionary field is first and foremost in his country, for many of his compatriots are indifferent to the point of no longer feeling their need for a savior.

The mission field is of course the whole world, but let us realize that it begins in our cities and in our villages. Will it be necessary for a servant of the Gospel to come to our country to tell us : "Before running away from your home to proclaim the Gospel, see what is happening in your home where the values ​​brought by the Gospel are ? swept away” ?

Yes, missionary action begins in our family, in our neighborhood, in our region, where we are well known : Go to your house, to yours, and tell them all that the Lord has done for you, how he took pity on you. (Mark 5:19). Our testimony begins where we are, and then, if the Lord calls us to it, our action can extend to the ends of the earth. This is what the Lord says : You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8).

Being a witness at home does not require a large investment, nor a special gift, but requires bearing the name of Christ with dignity.
