Mounted to heaven, Jesus gives

"Thus, having been exalted by the right of God and received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, he has poured out what you see and hear." Acts 2: 33

Born into a human family, Jesus identified himself with fallen humanity, yet without ever sinning (Heb. 4:14). But he is also the Son of God, the Christ, "over all things God blessed eternally" (Rom 9: 5).

On earth, Jesus performed many miracles that publicly attest the divine power with which he was clothed. He raised up the daughter of Jairus, the son of the widow of Nain, and Lazarus ; But the irrefutable proof of his divine sonship was brought by his victory over death.

Through his resurrection of the dead, Jesus Christ was "proved the Son of God in power" (Rom.1: 4). His elevation to heaven, 40 days after Passover, is in a way the seal put by God himself on a redeeming work fully and definitely accomplished at Golgotha. His exaltation demonstrates that the Father has accepted without reserve the accomplished work and all that is connected with it.

Resurrected, he received from God the finest answer to his sufferings and his shame : elevation to a glorious position at the right hand of God, where all authority was given him "in heaven and on earth" (Matt. 28. 18).

For nearly two thousand years, Jesus has been busy with an infinite love to nourish and grow the Church, which is his body on earth, when he is already glorified in heaven. For this he entrusts to believers the necessary capacities to act for the development of his Church: its increase in number, by means of the evangelists, for example ; His attachment to him, by means of brothers who explain the Word (doctors) or present it as a special message of God at the right time (prophets) (Ephesians 4:11, 12). Other gifts of grace are mentioned in Romans 12 and 1 Corinthians 12. The list is long. These promised gifts of the Spirit are the consequence of His elevation.

Let us strive for what the Lord gives for the life and expansion of the Church. Let us work, each one to our measure, in this immense building until he calls to Him His Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17) !
