My Eben-Ezer !

1 Samuel 7:12 - Samuel took a stone... and he called it Eben-Ezer, saying : Hitherto the LORD has helped us.

It often happens that in our lives we have the opportunity to do a retrospective. Looking at the time that has passed, can we say in faith : “Hitherto the Lord has helped us” ? Whether we realize it or not, He has been true to His Word for us !

The prophet Samuel placed a memorial stone which he called Eben-Ezer, that is, “stone of relief”. He placed it between Mizpah (the observation tower) and Shen (the sheer rock), as a testimony of God's goodness.

If we take a good look, we will see that our journey has been made of waiting time, grind, questioning, observation... but also of sheer rock to climb, challenges, conquests, victories to gain, ascents... For these different moments, are we grateful because the Lord was our "stone of help", as the psalmist said : "God is for us a refuge and a support, a help ? who never fails in distress” (Psalm 46.1).

In saying : “Hitherto the Lord has helped us,” we also look to the future with hope. My experience serves me as proof of the goodness and fidelity of God. Until the point where I arrived, the Lord never forsaken me. So it is with faith and confidence that I can look at what is in front of me, my Eben-Ezer will not fail.

My beloved, it is a good thing to take stock from time to time as long as we do not allow misunderstanding and doubt to split our rock of support. Almost everything can be explained over time, let's keep the faith !

Good reflection.
