No end to his love

According to Jesus, in the eyes of the Father, Christ and His Church are one. Paul illustrates it with the analogy of the human body. He says that Christ is the head and we are his body - bone of His bones, flesh of His flesh. "God hath put all things under his feet, and hath given him for supreme head unto the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all" (Ephesians 1: 22-23). "For we are members of his body, his flesh, and his bones" (Ephesians 5:30 version Darby).

Do you see the implication ? When the Father loves Jesus in eternity, he loves us too. Indeed, when man was only a thought in the eternal spirit of God, the Lord was already planning our redemption.

"As he elected us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him in love" (Ephesians 1: 4 Darby version).

God has always loved both His Son and us. His love is just as eternal as He : "I love you with everlasting love" (Jeremiah 31: 3). "May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who has loved us, and has given us by his grace everlasting consolation" (2 Thessalonians 2:16).

No one can win the love of God by a holy thing that he or she would have done. Jesus did not win the love of His Father by going to the cross, either by obeying Him or loving His Father. In the same way, God did not begin to love you the day you repented and received Christ. He did not suddenly love you once you began to obey His Word and walk in the Spirit. You were already loved from all eternity.

How long has God loved you ? He has loved you since He exists, because God is love. It's His very nature. He loved you as a sinner. He loved you when you were still in your mother's womb. He loved you before the world began. There is no beginning to the love of God for you, and there is no end either.
