No shortage with the Lord

Any believer who wishes to please God with a life of prayer must first settle this question : "Does God have everything I need or do I have to turn elsewhere to get my answer ?"

This may seem like a simple question - maybe even a question that does not even need to be asked. Most Christians will say : "Yes, of course, I believe that God has everything I need." But in reality, many of us are not convinced in the depths of our hearts! We say we believe it, but then a trial strikes and God seems not to respond. Often, in such moments, we do not really believe that He has what we need.

Paul exhorts us : "And my God will provide all your needs according to his riches, with glory, in Jesus Christ" (Philippians 4:19). The Lord has a reserve of abundance to meet all our needs. And faithful servants know it.

God spent forty years trying to convince Israel that they would never lack anything. He promised them that He would be their source and their constant reserve. "For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand, and hath known thy way in this great wilderness. For forty years have the LORD your God been with you: you have not lacked anything" (Deuteronomy 2: 7).

God said : "There is no scarcity, no shortage, with me. I have everything you need. And I gave it to you."

"For the LORD thy God will bring thee into a good land, a land ... where thou shalt not lack anything ... when thou eatest and be satisfied" (8: 7, 9-10).

Today, the Lord has brought us into our Promised Land : Christ ! Jesus is for us a place to reside, where he never misses anything. It represents the fullness of God in a body of flesh.

In the Old Testament believers had shekinah, the glory of God. But God says that He has provided for something even better for us, which is the presence of Jesus Himself. It is constantly present in us.
