Nomophobia

Perhaps you are “nomophobic” without knowing it... This word appeared in the United Kingdom in 2008 and is the contraction of “no mobile phone”. Nomophobia is the fear or worry felt at the idea of ​​being without a mobile phone or of being unable to use it... The Cambridge Dictionary committee has chosen it as the word of the year 2018.

This phenomenon is directly linked to the increasingly advanced technology of telephones. These have become, over the years, an extension of ourselves without which some people could no longer live. The phenomenon of smartphone addiction has been observed for years by scientists, to the point that a new trend is developing, the "digital detox" or digital detoxification cure. In France, there are many hotels and seminars that have captured this juicy business of detox cures... All of them could take up the slogan of Digital Detox, a company based in California : “Disconnect to reconnect”.

What if our essential need was to reconnect with our Creator, to reestablish contact with him ? The source of our existential anxieties, of the frantic need to fill the emptiness of our heart, is it not in this absence of relationship with God ? God offers us his love and his presence. We can contact him at any time !
