Nothing is lost
We must all appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ so that each will receive the wages for what he has done, good or bad, while in his body. 2 Corinthians 5:10
Popular wisdom states that "a blessing is never lost". But Gilbert Cesbron is also right to say : "A mischief is rarely lost", thus highlighting that what we do wrong, even if it seems harmless, will sooner or later have consequences. And if that doesn't seem true immediately, it will be when we come to account. Jesus said that men will give an account, even for every empty word they speak (Matthew 12:36). It's serious. Some think they are escaping human justice. We can, it is true, not bear the normal consequences of our abuses. Not all smokers get cancer ; not all alcoholics have delirium tremens. Not all thieves get caught and many crooks enjoy their scams in peace.
As Solomon king of Israel wrote, there are righteous people whose lot is in accordance with the work of the wicked, and wicked whose lot is in accordance with the work of the righteous (Ecclesiastes 8:14). Doubtless it is also because a sentence against evil deeds is not carried out promptly, that the hearts of humans within them are filled with the desire to do evil (Ecclesiastes 8:11).
But let’s see no encouragement to do wrong. No mischief, in the sight of God, will be "lost".
