Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else...
Searching the Scriptures
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10
Bobby Richardson was invited to make the closing prayer at the great annual gathering of Christian athletes in the USA. Instead of the traditional long prayer, what was the surprise of the thousands of people gathered to see Bobby pray this short prayer and then return to his chair : "Father, your will. Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing more. Amen."
And he's right. This is what our Heavenly Father wants. Talk to him "simply", like a child with his earthly father.
Why are we so complicated, so religious ? In churches, I often see people making prayers that are too long and boring, to show that they know how to pray or to prove to God that their request is valid. But God is our Father, he sees our hearts ! He wants our good !
There are also those who change their voice as soon as they pray. If this occasionally reflects a sincere fervor or supplication, no problem. But if that reveals that we are approaching God as a dictator, someone who is willing to yell at us if we haven't said the perfect prayer, then that's a problem. For God is our Father. He loves us... Passionately... Madly !
Now that we are united with Christ and by faith His blood has reconnected us to the Father, let's be simple. Let’s do like Bobby Richardson and pray in faith, "Father, your will. Nothing more. Nothing less. Nothing more. Amen."
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Ask God what His will would be for your life.
Praying is easy. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and he can hear everything. Here is an example prayer : "Lord, you love me as I am and you don't need a complicated protocol to speak to you. Teach me to be simple."
Praise God
To praise God is to show him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day comes to an end. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you for your humility and your accessibility Lord. Yours be the kingdom, the power and the glory, amen !"
