On the other side of the shore

"Jesus said : Let us go to the other side of the lake ! The apostles went out into the open." Luke 8.22

 

The apostles lived a special time. Installed very comfortably, they received from Jesus a profound teaching. I imagine them happy to live these particular times. Hearing hidden revelations of the Word of God is so rewarding. Having been in Bible school for three years, I remember those moments when I enjoyed the biblical pearls given by my teachers. It was jubilant.
Be at peace, Jesus is in your boat. It is time to live your faith.

However, if biblical doctrine is major in your discipleship, it is not meant to keep you seated. Your existence would not be useful if you did not apply this received word. The Christian life is not limited to verses assimilated or learned by heart, but also to glorious testimonies in which Jesus manifests.

Therefore, after teaching, the Lord asked his disciples to cross over to the other side of the lake. Perhaps some would have preferred to sit still to enjoy the secrets of Scripture, but it was not the divine plan. The Word, after being listened to, is called to be practiced. Then the apostles executed and went into the boat to cross, in spite of the fear of the unknown. Obedience paid off because we can discover in the following verses that they lived memorable events. They saw a storm calm down (v.24), a possessed man (v.33), a sick woman healed of his blood loss (v.45) and finally the resurrection of a little girl (v.54 ).

When you pass on the other side of the shore, then beautiful stories are triggered ! Living with a big "V" requires a risk-taking. But believe me, life with the Lord is worth living. Do not be afraid, practice the Word. True, there will sometimes be storms, possessed, sick and even dead before you ... But be at peace, Jesus is in your boat. It is time to live your faith.

A prayer for today

Lord, I want to obey you and put into practice what I hear in your Word. I wish to pass on the other side of the bank in order to live fabulous adventures. Amen.
