One by one (The story of Mr. Dickens)

On the day of his salvation, during the conversation, the young man Todd learned that the Word could not spread in this region, because a Mr. Dickens did not want to repent. When Todd heard this, he asked : "Who is this Mr. Dickens ?".

They told him he was a retired soldier in his sixties. He kept a rifle at home and swore to shoot anyone who would preach the gospel to him. He regarded all Christians as hypocrites, and called them all by that name. Whenever he met a Christian, he behaved in a violent way. No Christian dared to preach the gospel or even to go to the street where he lived. When he knew that a Christian was passing in his street, he went out to curse him fiercely and violently.

When Todd heard this, he prayed : "O Lord, I have received Your grace today. You saved me. I must go and testify to Mr. Dickens. " Before he finished his tea, he said : "I'm going there." He had been saved for barely two hours, and already he wanted to testify to Mr. Dickens.

The old couple tried to dissuade him by saying : "Do not go. Many went and failed. He chased some with a stick. Others fled after he threatened them with his rifle. Although he has beaten many people, we do not want to bring him to justice, to keep a good testimony of the gospel. That gave him an excuse to be even more violent. " Todd says : "I feel like I have to go."

He arrived at Mr. Dickens's house. As soon as he knocked, the man came to the door with a stick in his hand and asked : "Young man, what do you want ?". Todd replied : "Can I tell you a few words ?". The man nodded and they both entered the house. As they entered, Todd said : "I would like you to receive the Lord Jesus as your Savior."
