Open the eyes...
“Look at the sky and see ! Observe the clouds : they are way above you !” Job 35.5
You have probably already stretched out on the ground one night to contemplate the constellations, the moon and the stars, fixed or shooting. You then marveled while feeling very small in this limitless universe. But perhaps you have also taken the time, in broad daylight, to observe the sky, the clouds and their paths, driven by the wind, without forgetting to appreciate the nuances of colors in the setting sun. And you wondered how nature could offer so much beauty, day after day renewed and always new. Take the time to contemplate the infinitely large and the tiny : the Big Dipper like the ant, the sun like the delicate and fragrant violet, the waves of the sea and the eternal snows of the mountains, the blue tit and the waterfall splashing. Stopping to just look, with no other objective than to contemplate, admire, discover what is in front of our eyes and that we no longer notice because of our daily restlessness and our concern to always move forward. To do, to earn, to receive, to have and to possess ; that imposes crazy rhythms and a lot of blindness. Do we need confinements to force us to slow down and finally observe, notice and finally appreciate ? It is not just a matter of looking to clear our mind or to think of something else, or even to no longer ignore what we are around, but to take instruction. It’s about simply receiving what God gives that we overlook, that we ignore. Without completely abandoning our need to act and transmit, we can be deeply enriched, free of charge, by the contemplation which gives birth to meditation, and meditation the prayer of gratitude towards our generous creator.
