Our defeated foe

In fact, the word of God is alive and efficacious, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to separate soul and spirit, joints and marrow ; she judges the feelings and thoughts of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

How can we overcome the devil in everyday life ? First, we must recognize that the devil is a defeated foe. The Son of God has come to undo the work of the devil. The crucifixion of Christ, which looked like a great victory for Satan, proved to be a great triumph for God, because it was on the cross that Jesus took away your sins and my sins. God put our sins on Christ, so that when our Lord bowed his head and said : "It's over," he was referring to the plan of redemption and salvation. Then... we must resist the devil. If we resist him, says the Scripture, he will flee us. Jesus defeated the devil not by argument but simply by quoting the scriptures. That's why it's so important to learn and memorize passages from the scriptures.
