Our faith, our strength

David moved towards Goliath full of audacity, faith and determination. He could not imagine failing. Goliath doubted and that is why he swore by his gods and tried to intimidate David. David did not have a shadow of a doubt. That's right, faith. Since the birth of what has been called the "movement of faith," many people claim to have faith when it is not so. They think that by force of biblical positive confessions, the thing they hope will happen. And yet they will be able to repeat until their death that they will succeed, they will die in failure. It's not the confession that will bring the thing to exist. The faith of the heart is the faith to which God responds.

David had this kind of faith, he entered the battlefield and he already had the vision of Goliath and all his people defeated. He knew his enemy and knew that his strengths were only weaknesses. He advanced in his human weakness, relying only on God. It was a real faith. He had the faith of God. He had faith in God. He declared things, and what he said was not the result of human thought or desire. It was the result of his faith. To obtain this kind of faith, the true faith, we must plunge our eyes in God and dive into it until we bring it to birth. So many people confess the Word of God continually but do not believe what they say. They know that God could do it, they may even know that God would do it, but they do not believe God will do it. They doubt.

David's faith was his strength. Without this faith, David would have been as weak as the rest of his people. But he had meditated, he had thought, he had plunged into God and his Word. And it was then that faith was born. This faith made him invincible in the face of fear, invincible in the face of failure. He could not fail in God's plan. We must seek in God until we receive this strength of faith. We must grasp this faith, and only when it is established in us will we be strong in the face of the world and the challenge of evangelization.
