Our tent

We know, in fact, that if our earthly dwelling, which is only a tent, is destroyed, we have in heaven an edifice which is the work of God, an eternal dwelling which is not made by God. human hand. 2 Corinthians 5.1

As a child, I had the privilege of camping for a few summers. But I keep a singular memory of the campsite at Le Croisic. A storm tore up our tent in the middle of the night ! After putting the equipment in the car, my parents took refuge in the hotel. While through the solidarity of the neighbors, we found refuge, my sister and I, in a caravan...

To the Corinthians, the apostle Paul made the tent an image of the human body. He was well aware of the fragile and temporary nature of these canvases, for he made them himself in Corinth to support himself (Acts 18:1-3) !

We, too, see our existence as a temporary habitat, in order to reflect on eternity. "The present is only a spark", sings Yves Duteil (The Weaver)... The contrast between the invariability of God and the brevity of our lives should direct our thoughts to one who embodies a sustainable future. To all, Jesus Christ affirms : I say to you, he who believes has eternal life (John 6:47). Let us welcome his promise which, from the precariousness of our “tent”, wants to lead our soul towards an edifice which is the work of God, an eternal dwelling which is not made by the hand of man.
