Overcome doubt

Jesus said : “Happy is he for whom I will not cause a stumbling block” Matthew 11.6

John the Baptist was commissioned to prepare the way of the Lord (Matthew 3:1-3). That's what he did. But now, after rebuking Herod for adultery, this man of God finds himself in prison, while Jesus continues his ministry. What is going on ? Is John the Baptist forgotten ?

Then doubt seizes the great prophet who sends to question Jesus on his mission : “Are you the one who must come ?" Jesus sends messengers to him to tell him what they see : the sick are healed and the good news is announced to the poor (Matthew 11:3-5). John the Baptist must accept that Jesus is not the triumphant Messiah who will chastise Herod and send his army to deliver his prophet, but the Messiah of the "ill", of the poor. He will change hearts rather than governments.

This revelation will allow him to accept his fate as a martyr and to realize in his death his own prophecy : “He must increase and I must decrease." (John 3:30)

Are you in a situation where things are not going at all as you thought and instead of getting better, they are getting worse ? Has God Forgot You ? Like John the Baptist, sincerely question the Lord Jesus, let Him reveal Himself to you in a new way and give you faith that endures and overcomes all. Because he is Lord !
