"Participants of the divine nature"

His divine power has given us all that is necessary for life and godliness by making known to us the one who called us by his own glory and by his strength. These assure us of the greatest and most precious promises. Thus, thanks to them, you can flee from the corruption that exists in the world through covetousness and become partakers of the divine nature. 2 Peter 1:3,4

To partake of the divine nature does not mean that the Christian is deified and possesses the omniscience, the omnipotence, the omnipresence of God. To partake of the divine nature is to have received from God the capacity to reproduce his moral characters.

Covetousness (the desires of man not submitted to God) constitutes the engine of our society and the source of its immorality. On the contrary, the desire of the Christian is to seek to manifest the love, the holiness of God who, by nature, is love and light.

How to manifest without failure the divine characters ? It is by living in real closeness to Christ : he, as a man, has always lived in the light and love of God. By being united with him and serving him, the believer grows in his likeness.

God is light. The Christian can stand in the light of God without any fear, because Jesus has atoned for all his sins. He knows he now has a new life, a resurrected life with Christ. he seeks to live in the consciousness of what he is. He is therefore careful to behave in such a way that his whole life is approved by God. No lying, no name calling, no deception, no immorality or idolatry in any form. He seeks what is right, what is true, what is noble, what is of good name, what is worthy of praise (see Philippians 4:8).

Toward unbelievers, he seeks to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light (Acts 26:18).
