"It came to pass in that day, that Isaac's servants came and warned him about the well they had dug, and said to him: We have found water. And he called Sheba ; that is why the name of the town has been Beersheba to this day." Genesis 26. 32, 33


Several stories of Genesis show that in arid countries, as in the East, they planted his tent near a water source : a source, a stream or a well that had to dig. We also built cisterns to collect water. The family who owned a well was favored for two reasons : water supply was at his door and the water was less polluted than water from a tank or stream.
Today, more than ever, water is a vital issue for many nations. Easy access to water is essential ; we often say besides this maxim of wisdom, before construction of a farm, "Seek the well before the shelter."
Imagine a man who wants to develop an agricultural activity. It seeks a court, if necessary he clears the area required; he goes to work and built residential buildings and those required for the animals he wishes to raise, as well as for the storage of grains. But after months of toil, then it's all over, he realizes that he does not have wells to water their cattle and irrigate his fields. He looks around, but the water is off. This man did not understand the value of the saying : "Seek the well before the shelter." This is a fool !
This is the attitude of many of our contemporaries are sought first ease, comfort, and we build a world in search of immediate pleasure. But one does not sink, no real source of refreshment for the soul ; we do not really know the source of happiness. Life is miserable in a "safe", even beautiful, if one does not "sink".
The Christian has his "well" because he "draws" in Jesus new life. This vital water source for a farmer, Jesus became for Christians : "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink" (John 7. 37). Paul also tells us : "For me to live is Christ" (Phil 1. 21). Thus the "well" is always available, must still come to draw it !
So, let's say "our point of water" to those who do not !
