"The love of Christ compels us, in that we have discerned this, that if one died for all, therefore all died, and he died for all so that those who live might live no longer for themselves but for him who died for them and rose again. "2 Corinthians 5. 14, 15
Is it the love of Christ for us, or our love for him ? Unquestionably, Paul overflowed with love for his Savior, the One who died for him. But when the apostle declares to be embraced by the love of Christ, there can be no question that the love of Christ for us. The only reason we love is that he loved us first. This love fills his heart, the press, hugged.
Perhaps a man willing to devote it to people who believe in him. But Christ came to the rebels, rebels against God, dead in trespasses and sins. He knew it would be rejected, rejected, he would die on a cross for them all without distinction of race or culture.
The devil exercises power of death on those who sin; he therefore had no power over Jesus who was without sin. By cons, all humanity court to destruction, because all men have sinned. Love for them, Jesus died. Filled with the same love, Paul seeks to persuade men that Jesus wants to be the savior of everyone who believes. By the grace of God, many believed this good news. They are not dead, they live spiritually. They are passed from death to life.
Possessing the divine life, they actually tasted the infinite love of Christ. That is why they can not live as before, that is to say for themselves. They wish to live every day to "the one who died for them and rose again."
Can I say with Paul, the bottom of my heart : "I no longer live, I, but Christ lives in me ; and what I now live in the flesh I live by faith, faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me "(Gal. 2. 20) ?
The death of Christ is not an accident of history, is Christ personal gift in my favor.
