Pray

Thursday January 27, 2022

Do not worry about anything ; but in everything make your needs known to God by prayers and supplications, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4. 6, 7

Pray

- God is never more than a prayer away from you. (Charles B. Hodge)

- To pray is to speak to God with the freedom of a son before his father and the holy trembling of a dead person before God. (Adolphe Monod)

- Believers do not pray in life to inform God of things he does not know, or to induce him to do his duty, or to urge him as if he were reluctant. On the contrary, if they pray, it is to seek him, in order to remember his promises, in order to be comforted in their anxieties in his presence ; in a word, in order to declare that from God alone they hope and expect, as much for themselves as for others, all good things. (John Calvin)

- The thank you must hold a very large place in our prayers, because the goodness of God precedes all our acts. (Charles de Foucauld)

- To pray is to open the door to the Lord Jesus who knocks to enter our life and make you taste his presence. Opening the door to Jesus does not require much strength, it is enough to desire it. Do we want to let him into our life ? (O.K. Hallesby)

- Everything is easier when you pray. (word of a child)

- Prayer gives strength and opens doors. If it does not open the doors of prison cells, it opens the hearts of those who are there. What a powerful weapon ! (Gerhard Hamm, Russian evangelist, prisoner in the Siberian camps)

- "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5. 17).
