Pray every day

"Ask, [...] seek, [...] hit" Matthew 7.7

The famous evangelist R.A. Torrey unveiled two secrets for an effective prayer :

1) study the Word of God and find His will revealed in promises.

2) take these promises and express them before God in prayer, with the firm hope that he will do what he said.

Do not allow the stress of a so-called progress to impose the time you will spend at the foot of your Savior. Do not tolerate the absence of prayers in your life. Grace L. Naessens expresses it in one of his poems : "One morning early, I left without returning. I had so much to do, no time for prayer. The more the problems stacked up, the more the tasks weighed me. "God, why do not you help me ?" He replies, "But you did not ask for anything." I only wanted beauty and joy, but the day was only gray and cold. "God, why do not you show me anything ?" He said, "But you did not look for anything." I wanted to enter her presence ; I tried in vain to find the key. God gave me a gentle remonstrance : "My child, you did not knock." I got up early this morning, and I took the time to ask. I had so much to do, that I needed time for prayer. "

A thought for today

If you are wise, you will remain in "alert prayer", ready for the inevitable ordeals of life. It is foolish to wait until a problem arises to begin this vital spiritual discipline.
