In 1947, the independence of the "British Indies" led to the constitution of the Indian state, Hindu, and Pakistan, Muslim - itself divided between East Pakistan and West Pakistan. In 1971, East Pakistan became Bangladesh, whose official language is Bengali.

In 1809, when William Carey published the Bible in Bengali, most natives were either Hindus or Muslims. To translate the word "God", Carey had chosen the Bengali word "Ishwar", better understood by Hindus. In the following decades, the Christian faith spread especially among the lower castes and among the animists.

As of 2020, the entire Bible exists in fluent Bengali, but this time the word "God" has been translated as "Allah". Thus, many Muslims turned to Christ. They often stay in their communities, but are persecuted because they claim to be "Isai muslims", that is to say "those who submit to Jesus". They discovered that without Isa (Jesus), there is no possible salvation (Acts 4:12).
