Pray for integrity (1)

“The integrity of the upright is their guide, but the deceptions of the traitors cause their ruin.” Proverbs 11. 3

On the evening of victory, David the poet-king writes a song of love to the glory of God who delivered him "out of the hand of all his enemies and out of the hand of Saul." And we have Psalm 41 : “I love you, Lord, my strength! The Lord is my rock... Praised be the Lord ! (...) The Lord has treated me according to my righteousness, He has rewarded me according to the purity of my hands, for I have kept the ways of the Lord... kept from all faults...” (Psalm 41.2-3, 4, 21-22,24). If you had told him that a few years later he would covet a beautiful married woman and that he would kill one of his most loyal friends and battle companions to hide his fault, he would no doubt have replied : “Never. life !" Yet this is exactly what he did by committing adultery with Bathsheba and causing the death of Uriah. How different are the verses which he then wrote, after the visit of the prophet Nathan : “O God, be gracious to me, according to Your faithfulness ; according to Your great compassion, blot out my transgressions ! Wash me completely from my fault, cleanse me from my sin!  For I know my transgressions, and my sin is constantly before me. Towards You, You alone, I have sinned ; I did what You didn't like, so that You will be righteous in Your word, blameless in Your judgment... Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Bring me joy and joy, and the bones You crushed will be glad. Turn away from my sins, wash away all my faults. Create in me a pure heart, O God... Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will proclaim Your praise. You would not like me to offer a sacrifice... The sacrifice willed by God is a broken spirit... "(Psalm 51.3-6,9-12,17-19). It is the expression of his total repentance, the only one that God can accept from us too and that leads to forgiveness.
