Pray for our workplaces
Searching the Scriptures
Now therefore, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the word of the Lord may spread and be honored as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from wicked and perverse men, for not all have faith. 2 Thessalonians 3.1-2
When you hear "evil and evil men," one particular person might immediately spring to mind, or perhaps several people.
Your workplace may be full of people or employers who don't believe in God. It could be that everyone in the office hates God and hates you because you believe in him. Yet God will not let you leave this place.
Why does God leave you in this place ? Because you are the light of the world. God places you in the midst of darkness because the light dispels the darkness. He often puts believers in the path of unbelievers to show them what light looks like. This is why Jesus compares us to a city on a mountain, so that we can clearly show the way to those who are in darkness.
Not only are you the light, but you are also the salt of the earth. You bring the seasonings of God to everyone you meet. This is often why companies that hire a Christian are successful. Unfortunately, they often only realize this when the Christian is no longer there. Believers take the blessing with them wherever they go.
How do you pray when you are with people who oppose God and His Word? Pray as Paul did, that you will be guarded and protected from all attacks from wicked and perverse men. So God will keep you safe, even in the midst of a storm.
Listen to the voice of God
Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Ask God how you can show his light in your workplace.
Praying is simple. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and He can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, I am concerned by this text. I entrust to you my place of work and everything that happens there. I want to shine your light there through my testimony."
Praise God
To praise God is to show Him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.
Act today
Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.
Honor the Lord
Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
"Thank you for my colleagues and those in charge of my work. Bless them! Thine are the reign, the power and the glory forever. So be it !"
