Pray in difficult times

"God of my praise do not be silent ! For they open a wicked mouth against me, with a cunning mouth, they speak with a lying tongue, they surround me with hateful words, and make war against me without cause. love them, they accuse me, but I resort to prayer. " Psalms 109: 1-4

David composed this psalm while he lived under particularly difficult circumstances. He felt discouraged, vulnerable, and had the impression that he was being ignored. Some had deceived him. Others had spoken words of hatred against him and attacked him "without cause." They had responded to his love by accusations. They had made "evil for good and hatred for my love" (Psalm 109: 5).

Today, whatever you may live, you can be honest with God.

David opened his heart to God and understood that his only hope lay in him. He knew that his life was "like a shadow that stretches". His knees were flickering through fasting. He knew that others could curse him, but God would bless him. He waited for the day when the Lord would defend him, deliver him and restore justice.

Whatever the others may say or do, he had "recourse to prayer." He was only praying. He was determined to seek God in all situations and to invoke his name.

Today, whatever you may live, you can be honest with God. Tell them how you feel, talk to them about your problems and what others have done and said. You too can wait with confidence when God will do justice. You can shout at him, seek his help and rely on his benevolence. And do not forget to spend time in prayer and communion with him. In all situations, decide to have "recourse to prayer". Seek God with all your heart. Summon. He will hear you.

A prayer for today

Father, I entrust to you the following problems ... I seek your help. I count on you to do me justice. Thank you because you love me. I believe in you. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
