When an energetic man of action undertakes something, if he does not succeed at the first, the second or the hundredth time, he continues to strike with redoubled blows until he has succeeded ; so also the man of energetic prayer, when he undertakes to pray for something, continues to pray to the end and obtains what he seeks.
We should be very careful that we ask God, but when we begin to pray for something, we should never stop praying before the prayer or before God has shown us very clearly and clearly that this it is not his will to grant it to us.
Some would have us believe that praying twice for the same thing is a sign of disbelief, that we must "grasp" it from the first request. Certainly, we may be able, by faith in the Word of God or in the direction of the Holy Spirit, to claim from the first time what we have asked of God ; but undoubtedly, it also happens that we have to pray repeatedly for the same thing before obtaining the answer. Those who never want to pray twice for the same thing have exceeded their Master (Matthew 26:44).
George Müller prayed daily for two men for more than sixty years. One of them was converted shortly before the death of George Müller (I think it was the last meeting he held), the other was converted less than a year later.
There is a great need, at the present time, for men and women who do not just start praying, but who continue to pray, pray, pray until they get what they want from Lord.
