We saw yesterday that the sinful man constantly transgresses the 10 commandments :

He steals (8th), he lies (9th), he blasphemes against the name of God (3rd), he covets the goods of others (10th), he does not respect his parents (5th), he commits adultery (7th) , he commits crimes (6th), and God does not occupy the first place in his life (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th).

He does not respect the royal law which teaches : "You shall love your neighbor as yourself" (James 2.8).

Jesus summed up the Decalogue by evoking the two major commandments that encompass the whole law :

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and the greatest command. And this is the second which is like unto him : thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Of these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets" (Matthew 22: 37-40).

The first commandment includes the first four laws which concern the responsibility of man to God. The second is the six other laws dealing with the relationship of man with his neighbor.

So, we all broke the moral law in two ! For as James teaches : "Whoever observes all the law, but sins against a single commandment, is guilty of all" (James 2:10).

The dilemma for the modern church is this : it brings souls to a true conversion, or it is exhausted with deficient conversions.
