Redouble your efforts !

Searching the Scriptures

This is why, brethren, since God has called and chosen you, redouble your efforts. 2 Peter 1.10

Ah, the famous efforts... we don't like it, do we ? Pastor, don't you have in your drawer a magic wand or instant prayer of deliverance to make me a mature Christian, walking from victory to victory ? Well no ! Besides, if someone offers you this, you are dealing with a charlatan taking advantage of your despair or an ignorant one.

Read this story carefully. One day a man found a butterfly cocoon in which a small slit appeared. The man sat down and watched for several hours as the butterfly struggled to fit its body through the small hole. Suddenly the butterfly stopped making progress. It was as if he had reached his maximum potential but couldn't get out. The man then decided to help the butterfly.

He cut the cocoon with scissors. The butterfly could thus come out easily... But, it had a swollen body and small and shriveled wings. The man continued to observe the butterfly, thinking that at some point the wings would get bigger and be able to support the body. But nothing happened ! The butterfly spent the rest of its life with a swollen body and atrophied wings. He was never able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the butterfly's struggle to pass through the small opening was the way created by God to force the blood of the butterfly's body to go to irrigate its blood. wings so that they grow bigger and he can fly.

Sometimes effort is exactly what we need in our lives. If God allowed us to live our life without having any hindrance, it would cripple us. We would never be as strong as we could be. We could never fly.

Listen to the voice of God

Let's take the time to listen to what God means. Ask God in which area of ​​your life He would like you to redouble your efforts to so grow and fly.

Praying is simple. Talk to God as you would your closest friend. God loves you and He can hear everything. Here is an example of a prayer : "Lord, I come before you to tell you that from now on I will make an effort. I realize that I am not alone, your Spirit is there to help me and help me in this divine enterprise."

Praise God

To praise God is to show Him our gratitude. Today, what are your subjects of recognition ? Take a moment to thank the Lord for this.

Act today

Now dig deeper into what you have received. What can you do to apply what God has told you ? Write down the concrete actions you can take.

Honor the Lord

Our route for the day ends. Let us pray together to honor our God.
