Rely on God !

"For when we were still without strength, Christ at the appointed time died for the ungodly." Romans 5.6

What does it mean to be "without strength" ? The Greek word used here by Paul means to have no resources, to feel completely helpless, helpless and weak. That's how we were when Jesus came to this world. He came to save beings without strength, unable to save themselves.

"By grace you are saved through faith, and it does not come from you, it is the gift of God."

In the course of our existence, however, we can forget that we are without strength. It is so easy to place one's faith in one's own resources and abilities. His experience and his relationships. His success in the world. But life teaches us that any situation can change in a fraction of a second. Because of a natural disaster or illness. From a storm or an economic crisis.

The Bible reminds us that it is when we depend entirely on God that we are the strongest. As Paul wrote, "When I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Corinthians 12:10). When we become aware that we have no strength by ourselves. That we trust him for all things. What we draw from its unlimited power and resources.

How to understand such love ? It is totally contrary to human nature. Because God came to us even though we were still sinners. When we were his enemies. Christ died for us... when we did not deserve his help. Now, thanks to him, we can have peace with God. And we are "saved by him from anger".

Remember today that "By grace you are saved through faith, and it does not come from you, it is the gift of God" (Philippians 4:13). Trust him. Be filled with faith. Proclaim that his promises are true for you. And do not be discouraged. May it be the strength of your life.

A prayer for today

Father, thank you for your fidelity to me. Thank you because you meet all my needs. Thank you for your abundance and blessing. I do not want to give in to discouragement, but instead trust you. Amen.
