Remember you are the King's son or daughter !
“Let us therefore approach with confidence the throne of grace in order to obtain compassion and to find grace in order to be rescued at the appropriate time.” Hebrews 4:16
The Bible tells us that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. How then can we confidently approach the throne of grace ? To enlighten us, Stuart Briscoe recounts the following anecdote : “When I was a child, a retired miner came to our church. He was known in the region, having been invited to Buckingham Palace to receive a medal there from the hands of the king in recognition of his courage. Indeed, one day, at the bottom of the mine, he had heard loud cracking noises and immediately thought that the tunnel ceiling was going to collapse. He had then yelled at his colleagues to get out of the tunnel as quickly as possible while he, who was some kind of giant, leaned against the top wall of the tunnel to hold back the collapse. So he had managed to save all his colleagues before the eventual collapse of the tunnel behind him. The king had decorated him for this act of bravery. I asked him his impressions when he had met the king. He said to me : “I was scared. I didn’t feel comfortable. I wanted to be back in my little cottage as soon as possible. I then noticed a calm and smiling young man, very relaxed who was standing next to the king. I realized he was his son and so he was at home in this palace !" The old miner added : “Stuart, when you pray and address your Heavenly Father, always remember that you are at home in His presence ! But never lose the feeling of His Majesty, when you approach Him !" Jesus taught His disciples that it was possible for them to stand boldly before the Father, like a little child who is not afraid to draw near to his father. But at the same time, let us never lose sight of the fact that He is God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth and that He deserves the greatest respect !
