Remove the stone !

John 11:39 - Jesus said : "Remove the stone...".

This verse has worked a lot for us. Then it was as confirmed by another preacher.

If we think about the situation : Lazarus is dead, his body starts to smell and in my opinion, not a pleasant smell, so we put him in a cave and we block the access with a stone. That's it, he's dead. But Jesus comes into the story. He asks first : "Where did you put it ?". Then He said again : "Remove the stone !". You know the rest of the story, the dead man comes out, his hands and feet bound in bands, and his face wrapped in a cloth, Jesus finally says to them : "Untie him, and let him go" (we can talk about it next time by the way).

If we think about this passage of the Scriptures, it is obviously not a stone which prevented Jesus from acting. Jesus could have moved the stone with a word, but no, he said : "Remove the stone." Let's draw a reflection for our life.

First of all, this stone, placed on us, can be that of legalism, judgment, criticism... of others. About a child of God who fell into sin, it was said : "It is over for him, he is dead, moreover, he smells bad". So we put him in the closet, in a "cave" and we put a stone: finished for him, no more salvation, no more call, no more life.

Jesus tells us : “Remove the stone that you have put on these people”.

This stone can also be that of unbelief. There is a situation in your life that is difficult, it smells bad, it hurts, so you put a stone inside your heart to no longer see this situation thinking that God will not be able to intervene, but today God says to you : "Remove the stone, for I am quite capable of bringing you back to life !".

Let us become my friends of the “stoners” and not of the authors of stone !
