Respect the rythm !

"The earth produces itself, first the grass, then the spike, then the whole grain in the spike." Mark 4.28

Like many children, I sowed bean seeds in a corner of my father's garden, but my impatience led me to search the earth to see if the seed was germinating. In doing so, I destroyed the fragile germ, making my seed sterile.

Wanting to see the process of germination unfold quickly, I destroyed life! Since then, I have learned, in terms of the garden, to respect the rhythm of nature, and I harvest each year kilos of green beans !

Do not look to see the fruit before the time comes.

The believer's responsibility is not to grow the seed but simply to sow it. The seed represents the message of the Good News. To put men in contact with the gospel is all that God asks of us ; his message is a seed of life. Whether I watch or sleep, the seed that has fallen into good soil will produce its fruit in due season.

Do not try to see the fruit before the time comes, do not force things, let God act according to his rhythm. In wanting to speed things up, we run the risk of destroying the weak beginning of life.

You will notice that the beginning is very fragile. It is only a small blade of grass, almost insignificant, that can be easily torn off, crushed, crushed. The slightest breath of wind bends it to the ground. One must be careful not to put burdens that might crush him ; we must be careful not to trample this little shoot with our big hooves.

In the same way, let us respect the rhythm of God in the life of those who have received the seed. Let's not look at the fragility of their young faith, but look with hope at what God will produce in his time. Then a green spike appears, the seeds are becoming. Maturity will take time, but "Rejoice in hope." Romans 12.12 Finally will come the time of harvest, when the Lord of the harvest will decide.

A decision for today

Lord, aware that my responsibility is not to grow but to sow, I decide to sow this Good News of the grace of God around me.

I decide not to be impatient, but to trust you to sprout this good Word, in its time.

I decide to respect your work, especially in weak beginnings, taking care not to hurt those who are young in the faith, as your Word recommends, in Romans chapter 14. Amen !
