Rooted in the Word

Whoever despises speech is lost, but whoever fears command is rewarded. Proverbs 13:13

As Christians, we have the Spirit of God within us. But ours is the responsibility to keep sin out of our lives so that the Spirit can bear fruit in us. Become grounded in the Bible. As Christians, we have only one authority, one compass : the Word of God. In a letter to a friend, Abraham Lincoln said : "I am engaged in reading the Bible profitably. Take this whole book on reason as you can, and balance on faith. You will live and die a better man." Start the day with the Book ; and as the day ends, let the Word express its wisdom to your soul. Let this be the solid foundation on which your hope rests. Let it be the Staff of Life on which your spirit feeds. May it be the sword of the Spirit that cuts the evil from your life and shapes you to its image and its resemblance.

Almighty God, your word nourishes my whole being and I praise your holy name !
