Seeing his glory

"Father, I want that where I am the people you have given me also be with me, so that they may see my glory, the glory which you have given me, because you loved me before the foundation of World" (John 17:24). Jesus made this prayer for His disciples - which includes us. He asked the Father that we might see His glory, that is, we may know Him.

There were moments in the Old Testament when Jesus revealed Himself in a human or glorious form. You know what happened on those occasions. When Isaiah saw the glory of God in the temple, his body was shaken and he fell on his face. Jacob's hip was broken when he attempted to wrestle with the Lord. When Moses asked to see the glory of God, the Lord said to him : "All right, but first, I have to cover your face. Then I'll hide you behind a rock. Only then can I let you see the last reflections behind Me. "To summarize, He had to protect Moses from the full revelation of Himself. It was not an easy thing to be in the glorious presence of the Holy One !

This did not happen only in the Old Testament. When Peter met Jesus for the first time, he fell face-to-face, suddenly conscious of his unworthiness, and declared : "Lord, depart from me, because I am a sinful man" (Luke 5: 8) . This was also the case for the apostle John, exiled to Patmos, when he received the revelation of the Apocalypse. When the voice of the Lord spoke to him, John fell face down, terrified. There was no frivolity in meeting the Lord.

We know from Scripture that this is the normal response of men and women who have seen Jesus. This leads to the following question: Have we seen Jesus ? Are we transformed by the smallest glimmer of His presence in life note ? What would happen if we could see Him as Moses, Isaiah, John or Peter saw it ?
