Seeking the direction of God

I was just twenty-two years old when God put in my heart His will that I become an evangelist. He ordered me to use my past and my testimony to draw sinners to salvation. Since then, I have faithfully followed this call. At times, I got tired of telling my story and I wanted God to use me in another way. It's hard to relive those memories again and again.

Often, I asked myself : "What harm would there be to changing ministry ? Perhaps I could be a pastor in a church or do seminars on marriage and family issues - something that would allow me to use more of my gifts and talents. Or maybe I could get into business !"

And then I remember my call and those thoughts disappear quickly. There is nothing wrong with these professions but they are just not what God wanted for my life. I am an evangelist, an ambassador of God's grace and forgiveness. I speak to the people of Jesus and lead them to salvation at the foot of His throne. This is my goal before God and my spiritual gift. When God called me to this ministry, He not only gave me the ability to carry it out, but He put compassion in my heart for the lost. He gave me eyes to see clearly those who needed forgiveness and He opened a path for me to find them. Because I tried to stay true to this vision, He was able to use me to His glory. Gloria, my wife, has always felt that same call for her life.

You may have another call or profession. God has created each of us with different talents and gifts - but all of us are called to reach the lost ! We must seek His direction and vision for our lives and stay focused, engaged, for this cause.
